After breakfast, your guide will come and pick you up and take you to Selous Game Reserve to your lodge. After settling in and some rest your program starts with a Sunset Boat trip to Rufiji River where crocodiles, hippos and grazing games can be seen while the sun sets at the western Rujiji Banks.
Driving time without game viewing -6-7 hours.
Overnight at Selous Wilderness Camp set along the palm-fringed edges of the Rufiji River.
A full day of game drives at the reserve named after the explorer Frederick Selous. The Selous Game Reserve is the largest protected wildlife reserve, a UN World Heritage site and a pristine uninhabited area larger than Switzerland. The topography of the park varies from rolling savannah woodland to grassland plain and rocky outcrops cut by the Rufiji River and its tributaries.
A second overnight at Selous Wilderness Camp.
Spend another day at Selous Game Reserve. Proceed with game drives towards Northern Selous.
Overnight at Sable Mountain Lodge.
After breakfast, you will proceed to the next station of your safari circuit. First, you cross a vast part of Northern Selous on some bumpy, partly quite dusty roads towards Morogoro and onwards to Mikumi National Park where you reach your lodge in the afternoon. After a short rest, you go on an afternoon game drive at Mikumi. Often you can watch elephants coming for drinking at the waterhole which they share with hippos and sometimes crocodiles.
Driving time without game viewing _ 6-7 hours on a rough, dusty, bumpy road through thick bush.
Overnight at Angalia Tented Camp provides charming tented bungalows integrated in a breathtaking landscape.
A full day of game drives around Mikumi. There is a rich variety of bird species as well as large numbers of giraffes, buffaloes and elephants and close to the water holes also lions, leopards and hippos. Furthermore, you can see zebras, lions, wild dogs, pythons, hartebeest, wildebeest, elephants, impala, warthog, eland and other antelopes. Mikumi National Park is mostly miombo woodland with gently rolling hills. (A walking safari to the African Bush with an armed ranger can be arranged additionally at an extra cost of 60 USD per person), a
second overnight at Angalia Tented Camp.
Departure for Udzungwa Mountain National Park. Afternoon arrival at the park, half-day of hiking and bird-watching in the pristine rain forest: hiking towards the Sanje waterfalls for spectacular views of the wide Kilombero Valley. The hike can be a bit strenuous but reaching the Waterfalls and taking a dip in the crystal clear water at the pools is truly rewarding.
Overnight at Hondo Hondo Udzungwa Forest Camp situated on lush green grounds bordering pristine rainforest and providing stunning views to its forest canopy. (Accommodation at en suite luxury tent).
After breakfast our driver-guide will take you back to Dar Es Salaam, you will arrive in the late afternoon at the Airport or your hotel. Driving time without game viewing 7 hours.
